Birrgagu

This artwork is called Birrgagu which means tomorrow in Bidjara. I was inspired to create this artwork for Peace x Piece by one of my favourite quotes. ‘Every new day begins with possibilities. It’s up to us to fill it with things that move us towards progress and peace’. Birrgagu is filled with sandhills, breezy palms and open skies. When I think of where I’d like to spend my tomorrows I’m immediately taken to the beach where I feel a sense of grounding, peace and relaxation, the beach is the place I feel most connected to country, spirit and culture. Also scattered throughout Birrgagu you will find sea shells, sea snakes, diverse people and coolamons used to collect food, carry water and transport babies.
