Dunes

I’ve spent many hours trekking the dunes along the Sunshine Coastline monitoring the activity of coastal foxes and Ive watched them change dramatically over the years. The foredunes are a critical part of the dune ecosystem. They provide a reservoir of sand to help replenish the beach following erosion events, and act as a barrier to protect the area from tidal surges, waves and saltwater intrusion. Vegetation such as pig face which you can see in this artwork serve as traditional Aboriginal food as well as have an important role to play in dune stabilisation.
